GFWAust provided grouting expertise to assist GHD to complete the offshore site investigation for the proposed desalination plant at Wonthaggi

The site investigation boreholes for the proposed outlet and inlet tunnels extended over 500m offshore. These horizontal HQ cored holes were only 30m beneath the seabed and encountered extremely poor ground conditions. GFWAust were appointed to assist the drilling contractor to backfill grout an 80m section of the borehole to enable grouting to continue.
GFWAust provided a high pressure piston pump with a grout station to grout the hole through a complex packer system. The grouting was successfully carried out allowing the investigation boreholes to be completed.
